Same here, could not make any predictions. QQ
So don't buy stuff from the online store and, if you do (and it happens to be an extra account), don't try to use it to get some more z-keys because the site wont work.

And last minute votes can be prevented by lots of things related to RL and having life (computer breakdown, connection troubles at isp, power failure, having social life and attending party/having sex... ).
So, regardless of xth status, votling in last minute is just plain dumb for reasons anet can not fix ever.

I never like voting with crude votes, since otherwise I got to re-vote= even using more time on something that is incredible boring so that won't be happening.
Also looks like an obligation= bad

Yes, I agree.
I believe I covered this in my post where I said - "they will now just get more $$$ or get more interest into the game".

The problems being referred to in this thread (slow browsing, site timing out, being logged OUT while trying to log in because it took so long, managing to log in and trying to make predictions, but nothing happening, website looping) were all experienced during the 5-6 hours before the closing time for GvG preds and only started working 1-2 hours or so after the closing time for GvG.
Sunday I managed to do my 1v1 preds, but no GvG because of the problems on Saturday.
I have always done my preds like this, 4-6 hours before closing and it has always worked.
This is the first time there is this complete failure (to my knowledge) and this only since the introduction of this new XTH system.
Other than these problems, the new XTH also seems to have a rather terrible listing method for the accounts.
Example - You see certain names in the prediction list, but when saving it, the name changes to something else which is not even on the HB ladder on the GW site.
Try finding all the players in the top8 finishers of 1v1 on the HB ladder, for instance.
SO, it appears there are a few bugs still in this system.
Anyway, enough now.
Most importantly and sadly - ANET doesn't even know about it, they have not acknowledged anything, heck their Support didn't even know about any problems (from posts in this thread) WHILE the problem was still happening and people all over the world were complaining.
Lets see if things improve next month and whether the same issues will arise.

Yah, I missed out on GvG for all 3 of my accounts too. Page would not load. Would be nice if they could do something about it, but what can they do for us?

That's probably because GW Support claims they can't affect the website in any way. It's been forwarded to the Development Team though.

Bumping! :-)
I finally got a response from GW Support, it only took them 2 weeks, regarding the issues with XTH last month.

No matter how large or expansive a nation's network is, there will occasionally be issues with "bottle-necking" when mass amounts of users attempt to access one site. This also occurs when certain social networking sites link to one page. With the recent update, many users were informed about the new Xunlai House Tournament system at one time. Players who had never attempted the system decided to give it a try. And there was some congestion. I'm sorry to hear that you weren't able to make your last minute decisions. However, it is highly doubtful that this issue should occur again.
|
So this month we can do last minute predictions again. Yay!

That's quite a horrible response. Even their support people has no tact and professionalism.
The example the Gm supplied is a classic case of an Internet system. They simply did not plan and build this system to scale to capacity. That's as simple as that. That's why 'congestion' happen.
The above response is filled with excuses, shrugging responsibility and then rounding it off with a sarcastic / snide remark about 'last minute decisions'.
Nice.
